Weird Al

Having married Daryl Weird Al was destined to be a part of our lives.  I think in the nine years we've been married Daryl has seen Weird Al in concert at least four times.  Avery went to her first concert last year, so when we went this past Tuesday it was her second Weird Al concert.  This year I finally went to one, and we decided that we could take Harper too.  Aimee, Karl, and Tyler were there too with Tyler's cousin as well.  Also Daryl's cousins Scott and Kyle came along.  Avery and Harper said the concert was great.  Even though Harper told me that she needed to get up and walk about forty-five minutes in.  I ignored that and gave her my phone instead.  Weird Al gave a great concert, and it was fun to watch the ASL interpreters sign the songs like, "I'm Fat."

Avery does this a lot now when I try to take pictures.

Yet more posing from Harper and Avery.  I am not sure why putting your leg up is the cool thing to do.

This is what Harper did through a majority of the concert.

The Middle Stuff

After we got home from our family reunion on the Oregon Coast we had nothing else planned for the month.  It was nice to just hang out, and it looks like a lot of the pictures I took show us doing just that.  Unfortunately I didn't take pictures when my friend Aya and her family stayed over for a night on their way to their new assignment in Virginia.  Neither did I take any pictures when Ashley and Ayva came to watch the kids while Daryl and I went to see the new Star Trek movie.

Emery looking fabulous.

Daryl and Avery chillaxing.

Emery also wanted to sit in the laundry basket.

More of Luke is above the counter top when he sits at the island now.

Here's a side view.

Family Reunion Part 5: Nye Beach and Everything Else

I think this is the last post about our family reunion.  We stayed just a short walk up from Nye Beach.  I was really happy with our location.  We were in walking distance to the beach and a few restaurants.  If you are not familiar with the Oregon coast.  You don't really go there to swim in the ocean unless you are a fan of hypothermia.  Instead you play in the sand and explore.  The kids had a great time.  I got to throw the Frisbee with Maddux, so I got to play Frisbee with someone who could actually throw it back to me for once.  Usually when I play Frisbee with the kids it's more like playing fetch with a dog. So here are the pictures from the beach and a few random ones. Enjoy.

We of course did a puzzle.  Aidan put the last piece in.

Family Reunion Part 4: Family Pictures and Yaquina Head Lighthouse

Newport has two lighthouses.  The old lighthouse that you actually couldn't see very well from the ocean since it was set to far back inland, and Yaquina Head Lighthouse that replaced it.  The old one was really tiny and we could walk through it on our own.  Avery was excited when I told her that the house was similar to one that Laura from Little House on the Prairie could have lived in.  When we visited Yaquina Head Lighthouse you had to get a ticket to tour the lighthouse, so we just admired the outside.  We also randomly met up with Chris and Alex and their kids.  While the family was all together we did pictures, but I realize that I don't have a copy of the group shot yet.  Unfortunately it was too bright for Daryl and me.  I managed to open my eyes part of the time, but Daryl never really managed to get them open.

Angie thought it would be cute to take pictures with this frame she brought.  I think this ended up being our best family shot because the sun wasn't directly in our eyes.

Yeah you can tell Daryl and I are from the Seattle area.

We were also dealing with the wind.

Family Reunion Part 3: Birthdays and the Fourth of July

July is pretty birthday heavy on my side of the family.  Emery has her birthday right before July starts, and then that first weekend Ashlyn, Brad, and my Dad have their birthdays.  In the next two weeks Reagan and Hudson have their birthdays.  There were a lot of reasons to celebrate.  Ashlyn opened her gifts on her birthday and then on the Fourth we honored all those who had or would have birthdays soon.  We just stepped out of the house and watched fireworks from there. There were plenty of fireworks to see.  It was very chilly because of the wind mostly.  I was lucky that Angie had brought extra coats, so I was able to put one on over the coat I had brought.

My Mom made Ashlyn a t-shirt quilt with all her old high school shirts.  My Mom said she will never make one again.

Avery and Brad.  Avery can't resist birthday festivities.  She was showing Brad the card we had gotten him.
