Seagull Rescue!

This morning I was downstairs with the girls giving them breakfast and doing the normal mom stuff when I kept hearing this banging from upstairs.  I figured some seagulls were having a party on our roof as they can get quite noisy.  Then Daryl came down and said it was actually a seagull stuck on one of our decks upstairs.
He was not a very smart guy.  He kept trying to fly through the clear glass that makes up our railing.  We tried moving a chair out to the side for him to get up on to escape, but let me reiterate how stupid this bird was.  I ended up going out there clad in a long sleeved jacket and armed with a towel.  I was able to flip him up on the railing, but he wasn't able to get his balance.  In the end I flipped  him up on our bistro table.  Then he was finally able to make his escape.

Flying directly into the glass, making loud thumping noises that could be heard throughout the house, and probably giving him quite the headache.

This was the first abortive attempt.  Notice how he's trying to bite me.

He's free!

Cute Times

My silly girls.  This is the first time Avery wanted to make a silly face for the camera.

They actually were on the iPad together peacefully for a good three minutes I'd wager.

I love sneaking into their room at night.

Harper Happenings

Harper is quite the funny girl.  She loves to play with the dolls as you can see in the following pictures.  She'll grab a diaper and lay down the dolly in an attempt to diaper them.  She babbles like there is no tomorrow.  Harper can say a lot of words:  shoe, choo-choo, thank you, kitty, mommy, daddy, hi, bye, and no. When she says no we both think that she sounds like the monkey In Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It's more a long drawn out "Noooooo!" that gets a little intense at the end.  Harper loves to give you kisses.  All you have to do is pucker up while going mmmmm, and she will at least incline her head for you to kiss her.  Also when you are holding her she often starts patting or rubbing your back.

Harper likes to make sure all the dollies are well fed.

This is dolly going into the sideboard. Looks like someone has been watching too much Seinfeld.

Not even two and she loves talking on the phone already.

Avery's Feast of Words

Avery has been doing a lot of pretending lately.  Mostly involving her dolls of course.  On this particular day I suddenly noticed that Avery was concentrating a great deal of effort in the dining area, and when I went to see what was going on I had to laugh.  She had pulled up every chair she could find to the dining table, and placed a doll or stuffed animal in each chair.  Then every toy had a book placed in front of it on the table.  I'm not sure if she was trying to teach them, or just making sure they were enjoying themselves with a little light reading.

Harper insisted on being a part of things when she noticed all the activity going on.  She just hates being left out.

Sweet Dreams Avery

Usually I check the girls every night after they've fallen asleep.  Tonight I found Avery like this:

Note the sunglasses she is wearing to bed, and she apparently needed to sleep with almost every stuffed animal she owns. She had also taken Harper's blanket away from her, but I had already returned it to a peacefully sleeping Harper before I took this picture.

We're Sorry Seattle

Wednesday we got a nice dining set for our deck, which has a direct correlation to the winter like conditions that occurred the very next day.  If we had not bought some nice deck furniture I'm sure it wouldn't have been 53 degrees and pouring down rain.  Hopefully we'll find the summer weather again, so we can actually use this.
