The New Year Thus Far

Our January was a little more exciting than usual.  The first Saturday of the year we had a sizable wind storm that knocked out our power for most of the day on the Sunday following.  Fortunately it wasn't too cold and we could cook on our gas stove top.  We gathered a giant pile of blankets and pillows on the family room floor and played almost all our board and card games with the kids.  We got power on around five in the evening just in time for baths.

Harper and Emery was using the elliptical together.

Daryl and I both had haircuts the same night, so we traded off watching the kids at the mall.

The kids and I got ice cream cones and played at the mall.

Avery is too big to play and would rather play Nintendo anyway.

I went hiking to Coal Creek Falls by myself.

Emery has really taken a shine to the latest Amazon box.

She was sure she could lined it with blankets and stuffed animals and then sleep in it.  She's mad that I took her picture.

I finally parted ways with the baby blanket my Grandma Ruby made me.  I donated it to a textile drive for a high school choir some of the kids at church attend.

From Christmas to New Year's Day

This year Daryl took off the whole week of Christmas and it was very nice for me.  The kids liked too of course.  We spent that time playing board games, videos games, and going the occasional place.  For New Year's Eve our friends Christie and Ben came over to play with Luke's BFF Zander.  Luke put himself to be before midnight, but this was the first time any of our girls actually stayed up until midnight.  It was more an accident than a conscious decision, and based on this year I think we will make sure that Emery goes to bed early.  She woke up the next day super crabby and insisting that it felt like Wednesday instead of the Tuesday it was, and for some reason that was a bad thing.

This is actually a picture of a moon I took at winter solstice on the 21st of December.  The picture doesn't do it any justice.

I think we nailed these bath bombs.

Santa brought us Ticket to Ride Junior Europe edition.

Daryl looked up how to make a balloon dog on the interwebs.

Luke really liked my Mom's little Christmas chair at her place.

We went to Enchanted Village to see the lights.

New Year's Day we went on a bike ride.  Luke and I are in the back with Daryl and the girls up ahead.

Here is all the holiday art Luke and Emery contributed.  Luke did the bear face and the candy cane with the rest belonging to Emery.  She did not give me her Santa or Gingerbread girl until after Christmas though.

Ashley and Thomas get Hitched

The day after Christmas Daryl's sister Ashley and her boyfriend made it official and got married in a short and sweet ceremony at the courthouse.  We ended up only taking Avery with us because Harper was sick and quite frankly we enjoyed it more that way.  After the wedding we all celebrated with some great Mexican food.  It was a great night and we were glad to help celebrate with everyone!

Ayva stayed out of the way for like a second before becoming an integral part of the wedding.

This didn't last long.

This is when the judge decided we better wrap things up.

The judge invited them to take pictures.  Tyler and Avery enjoyed it.

One more picture.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Here's what Christmas Eve and Christmas Day looked like for our family.

Christmas Eve we went with my parents to see Mary Poppins.
