May Round Up

May has slipped away, and we are closer to the end of the school year at last.  This week marked the first time Daryl and I had to take a kid to urgent care.  On Wednesday Emery was running a fever.  We had tried to take her out to the little kiddie pool in the backyard, but she went back inside the house.  Emery loves being outside and never wants to come back inside.  The next day she wasn't any better, and when we got her up from her nap she was running a temperature of 104, so we took her straight to urgent care.  Fortunately she really didn't have any other symptoms.  After a day or two of Motrin she was back to herself.

Avery put her little Mario hat on to play video games with Daryl.

Daryl wasn't feeling well one day and Avery tried to make him breakfast in bed.  I was able to intercept her though before she tried to give lactose intolerant Daryl a bowl of cereal drowning in milk.  She is a sweet girl.

I caught Ashlyn and Luke taking a nap together.

Art

This isn't technically art, but when I first saw this I thought Avery had written, "everybody to be ice god" but then I realized that ice was really nice and god was supposed to be good.  I thought it was pretty funny anyway.

Harper drew this picture of Daryl.  Harper said that he was sad because he was hurt.

Another Harper picture.

Avery drew a computer for Daryl.

Avery drew a cat for me.

This is Avery's drawing of Luke.  With the red mouths Avery puts on everybody it makes the pictures look slightly demonic.
This is a sign Harper put up on her bedroom door.  It says people eating monsters keep out.

Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend we went over to my Dad's hometown of Toppenish to lay peonies on the Layman's buried there including my grandfather who served in World War II and my dad's cousin Terry who served in Vietnam.  I was expecting the girls, especially Emery, to want to run around in the cemetery, but they were all very good.  They were pretty focused on their task of making sure all the Laymans there had enough peonies on their graves.  Emery was very sweet and tried so hard to make her flowers stand up.

Baby Luke's first outing to Miner's.

Emery trying to stand up her peony.

We were trying to get a shot of Luke with my grandmother's headstone because they are birthday buddies when Avery and Harper jumped in.

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a pretty low key Mother's Day weekend.  Sunday we went and had dinner at my Mom's house.  My niece Ashlyn flew in on Sunday, and is going to stay with us this summer.  She's going to help out with the kids for her summer job.  We are super excited she's here, and she finally got to meet Luke and Logan.  You can also see how Avery got a one of her My Little Pony combs stuck in Luke's hair.

I asked Harper why they put the little blanket on Luke, and she said it was because he was a super baby.  Also you can see Avery combing Luke's hair.  It looks cute right now.

It's not so cute now with the comb twirled into his hair.  It took me about a half hour to get it untangled.

Ashlyn meeting Logan for the first time.

I love the look on Logan's face.  Logan got to go to his first Mariner's game on Mother's Day.

Hey cousin how you doing?

We were trying to force the babies to interact.

This is the best picture we could get of them looking at each other.

Luke is Six Months Old

Here we are at half a year of Luke.  It just seems like yesterday I was endlessly waiting for him to come, and now bam it's been six months.  Luke continues to be a pretty happy little guy with only occasional bouts of grumpiness.  He has finally decided to roll over all the time now. He shows no signs of crawling at all, which is fine by me because I don't want him crawling before we move anyway.  Luke also has no teeth and it doesn't look like that is going to change any time soon.  After many reluctant tastes of rice cereal Luke decided that it wasn't that bad when mixed with peaches.  I've never had a baby so unenthusiastic about eating.  The girls always ate like they knew I had been hiding the good stuff from them.  Luke eats, but with a lot of insistent spoon work from me.  He's only fourteen pounds three ounces right now.  I don't know length because we haven't had his check up yet.  He now spends all night in his bedroom that he shares with Emery.  Luke and Emery can more or less fall asleep at the same time when we put them to bed together.  It feels really nice to have our room back.  Luke is such a sweet guy, and the whole family is just in love with this guy.

Finally most definitely bigger than the monkey.

Poor guy has leftover girl toys to play with.  He doesn't seem to mind though.

Luke playing with another girl bunny toy.

Emery wanted to make a monkey sandwich.

Here's some tongue.

Baby close up.

Harper is reading a book to Luke to help cheer him up.  She's also the one that gave him the bunny toy to play with.

I just love this sweet face.

April Stuff

April was a pretty exciting month.  My sister DeAnna and her husband Brad moved up to Portland form Phoenix, and we were all excited that they are closer now.  The week she moved up was spring break, so I took all the kids to see her because I couldn't stand it.  I didn't take any pictures of that.  She and Brad came up the next weekend to see everyone, and I got some cute pictures of Logan and Luke having man time together.  Then last week DeAnna came up for a couple days, and was able to see Avery's Kindergarten play Goldilock's and the Three Bears.

Emery looks like she's going to take a bite out of Luke.

Avery in her Kindergarten play that she was so, so excited about.  She is in the pink shirt with the purple skirt with pink polka dots.

Harper put on the doll's jacket.

I've been trying to get Luke to eat real food with mixed success.

Logan and Luke side by side.  Logan is 17 pounds and Luke is 14 pounds.

Here's another picture of the boys together.  They are just too cute.
