The Rest of Spring Break

Normally we don't do a whole lot, but I actually managed to get some fun things done during Spring Break.  We went to two malls:  Bell Square and the Supermall (really the Outlet Collection, but how can it be anything but the Supermall to me). The kids enjoyed the play areas at both malls.  We got to hang out with Christie and baby Zander when we went to the Supermall.  Then Saturday we went to the Point Defiance Zoo with Aimee, Karl, and Tyler.  The girls said they had a great time this week, and it was nice to break up the routine a bit.

The girls did their make up one day, and Emery really has a subtle hand with lipstick.

Harper and Avery also dressed up when they did their make up.

Here's Avery looking very beautiful.

This peacock was walking by us for a bit in the parking lot at the zoo.

Here's Luke playing at the mall for the very first time at Bell Square.  Avery took it upon herself

A Quick Trip to Portland

This last week was our Spring Break, and the kids and I were able to go see DeAnna on Monday on her day off.  We drove down Sunday evening after dinner, and the kids woke up at 6:20 in the morning the next day.  Luckily Avery had brought her alarm clock from home, who wouldn't, so she remembered that they were all supposed to stay in their room until seven.  Not that that meant I went back to sleep.
DeAnna and I took the kids to Forest Park in Portland to walk to the Witch's House, which is actually the remains of a public restroom built in the fifties.  It was considered obsolete pretty quickly after it was built and abandoned until it is was you see today.  Google it if you want to find out why it's called the Witch's House.  The kids loved playing in it and called it their castle.
We also drove around Portland and took in the sights.  In honor of Beverly Cleary's 100th birthday we drove up Klickitat Street and tried to decide where Ramona Quimby and Howie Kemp's respective homes might be.  Avery and Harper both wanted to have lunch at Burgerville because they give out seeds with their kids meals.

Avery forgot her jacket and had to borrow a sweater from DeAnna.

Emery, Avery, and Harper wanted me to send this picture to Daryl at work.

Here's the gang by the water.  Avery and Harper wanted to be sure to get a picture of the creek.

Making silly faces.

The Burgerville had a cute little kids table that kept everyone well occupied and happy.

Jet Lagged

For two weeks after we returned from Japan times were rough for Daryl and I.  Getting up before seven in the morning was near impossible and we were really tired in general.  We did our best just to keep up with status quo, and used the new Bite Squad service to have many meals delivered to our home.  Daryl also started his last quarter of school two days after we got back.  Needless to say we are counting down the days until graduation.
