Harper's Last Day of Preschool

  Friday was Harper's last day of preschool.  She was actually ready for the end of school because she kept asking me every day if it was her last day, so Friday morning I excitedly announced it was her last day only to be met with a super sad face and a few tears.  It didn't last long though.  Harper is really excited to be a Kindergartner next year and be bus buddies with Avery.  I include some pictures from Avery and Harper's Eager Reader party (Eager Reader was their school reading program) because Harper was one of the top three readers from preschool.  Not that, that was hard to do since there are much fewer preschoolers compared to the other grades.  Harper was pleased with her $10 gift card to Barnes and Noble.  Friday evening she had a goodbye picnic with all the preschool classes, and despite all the rain, wind, and cool temperatures we still managed to have some fun.

Grease

  Tonight Avery performed in her first musical, an elementary production of Grease condensed into thirty minutes.  It was a wonderful low key program run by a husband and wife team who go to the local schools and arrange a production at each school.  Avery had a great time, and I think it was great introduction to musicals.  The performance was at XXX Root Beer in Issaquah for a little extra Fifties era ambiance.  My parents were able to be there as well as Aimee, Karl, and Tyler.  Avery was a freshman, and really enjoyed wearing her poodle skirt costume.

Memorial Day Weekend

  Memorial Day Weekend we went over to Sequim Sunday night, so we could visit Daryl's grandma and Aunt Donna and Uncle Laif.  The kids loved the ferry ride to and from.  It was Luke's very first ferry ride.  He didn't appear aware of this important first though.  Monday morning we took the kids to the Dungeness Spit with Donna in hopes of running all the energy out of the kids, but I think that only worked on the adults.  After lunch Daryl video taped his grandma telling stories about her life.  We were really excited to have these stories recorded.  It was a great visit, and we are so grateful to Donna and Laif for their hospitality.

May Scraps

  I found some more pictures from Mother's Day on my phone.  We had dinner over at my brother's house with my parents.  The kids love going to Adam and Angie's.  They have an enormous backyard.  It was fun to get to see Logan and Luke interact now as walkers.  I also threw in a few other pictures from the month.

Catching Up

  So it's been a month since the blog has been updated. Mostly because my computers and the network where all the photos get stored have not been on speaking terms.  That issue has finally been resolved, and now I will attempt to catch you up on Avery's first grade program, Mother's Day, and a family dinner with Avya, Ashley, Aimee, Karl, and Tyler.

Avery's teacher was our local radio station's Teacher of the Week, which was of course extraordinary news.
